Overview
Chevron is the stretch of Lekki that takes its name from the Nigerian headquarters of Chevron Corporation, which stands on the Lekki–Epe Expressway roughly midway between Lekki Phase 1 and Ajah. The area is defined by three roads: Chevron Drive, which runs south-west from the Chevron roundabout past Chevy View Estate towards the lakeside estates; Orchid Road, which heads north from the Lekki 2 toll plaza; and the expressway frontage itself, lined with plazas, supermarkets and the Lekki Conservation Centre.
For buyers and renters it is the sweet spot of the corridor. It is far enough from Phase 1 to be noticeably cheaper, close enough that a dawn run to Victoria Island takes under half an hour, and it has the largest concentration of well-managed family estates between Osapa and VGC. Chevy View Estate, Northern Foreshore, Bera, Carlton Gate, Hampton Lake and Tulip Haven are the established names, with newer terrace developments filling Orchid Road.
Daily life revolves around the estates and the supermarkets and schools clustered at their gates. The Conservation Centre's canopy walkway is next door, Circle Mall in Osapa is ten minutes west and the Ikota Shopping Complex ten minutes east. The area is fully built out on Chevron Drive, so most new supply is on Orchid Road and the reclaimed lakefront plots, which are worth scrutinising for drainage.
Chevron suits professionals with school-age children, oil-and-gas and corporate staff who value the location, and investors looking for dependable family lets rather than short-let churn.
02
History
Chevron's identity dates from the 1990s, when Chevron Nigeria Limited (then Gulf Oil, later Chevron-Texaco) established its Lagos headquarters on the newly tarred Lekki–Epe Expressway, on land that had been part of the Ologolo and Igbo Efon farming and fishing communities. The roundabout outside the complex quickly became the landmark by which everyone gave directions, and "Chevron" stuck as the neighbourhood name.
Chevy View Estate, laid out beside the headquarters, was one of the first private estates in Lekki and was marketed largely to Chevron staff and fellow oil-industry professionals. Through the 2000s the lakefront south of Chevron Drive was parcelled into Northern Foreshore, Bera and similar estates as drainage canals and sand-filling opened up the land.
The Lekki Concession Company's second toll plaza, built at the Chevron end of the expressway, became a flashpoint when tolling was attempted in 2011 and again after the 2020 protests; it was never fully tolled in the way Admiralty Circle was. Orchid Road, once a sandy estate track, was upgraded in the early 2020s and has since attracted dozens of terrace and apartment schemes, turning Chevron from a quiet estate enclave into one of the busiest residential sub-markets in Lekki.
03
Location & Neighbours
Chevron sits on the southern (ocean) side of the Lekki–Epe Expressway, roughly 12 km east of the Admiralty Circle toll plaza. To the west are Idado, Ologolo and Agungi; to the east, across the Lekki 2 toll plaza, lie Ikota and VGC. North of the expressway along Orchid Road are Eleganza Gardens, Lekki Gardens and the road on to the lagoon-side Lafiaji and Ikota GRA areas.
Chevron Drive itself runs about 3 km from the roundabout past Chevy View, Bera, Carlton Gate, Hampton Lake and Tulip Haven to Northern Foreshore and the creek. Alpha Beach Road, reached via Igbo Efon, gives an alternative route to the coast. The Lekki Conservation Centre occupies the wetland immediately west of Chevron Drive. Because the estates are served by one or two access roads, the junctions at the roundabout and the toll plaza are the area's pinch points.
04
Who Lives Here
Chevron is family territory. The typical household is a two-income professional couple with children in one of the nearby private schools, often in banking, oil and gas, telecoms, consulting or tech. Chevron Nigeria staff and contractors are still well represented in Chevy View, and a good number of expatriates and returnee Nigerians live in the serviced estates off Chevron Drive.
Orchid Road has a younger profile: first-time buyers and renters in their late twenties and thirties who have bought or rented new terraces and flats, plus a growing number of short-let guests. The community feel is estate-based, with active residents' associations, WhatsApp groups, estate football and regular end-of-year carnivals. It is less showy than Phase 1 and noticeably quieter after dark.
05
Real Estate
The standard Chevron home is a four-bedroom semi-detached or terrace duplex with a boys' quarters on a 250–350 sqm plot inside a gated estate. Five-bedroom fully detached houses on 500–700 sqm plots are found in Chevy View, Northern Foreshore, Bera and Carlton Gate, often with lake frontage. Apartment supply has grown fast: two- and three-bedroom flats in mid-rise blocks along Orchid Road and the expressway service lane, many sold off-plan and finished to a serviced standard with shared generators and boreholes.
Asking rents for a three-bedroom flat are typically ₦7M to ₦10M a year, a four-bedroom terrace or semi-detached around ₦10M to ₦14M, and a five-bedroom detached house ₦25M to ₦30M. On the sale side, four-bedroom semi-detached houses list from around ₦200M to ₦320M, five-bedroom detached from ₦380M to ₦850M, and two-bedroom flats from ₦120M.
Residential land is scarce on Chevron Drive and trades at roughly ₦300M for a 600–700 sqm plot; Orchid Road plots are cheaper but should be checked for reclamation quality and drainage. Trends to note: steady rental growth driven by families priced out of Phase 1, strong off-plan demand on Orchid Road, and a premium for estates with proven flood management. For investors, Chevron offers reliable 5–7% gross yields on family lets and capital growth underpinned by limited new land. Always confirm title (Governor's Consent or C of O), service charge levels and the estate association's track record.

07
Transport
Chevron is reached from the Lekki–Epe Expressway at the Chevron roundabout and the Lekki 2 toll plaza (Orchid Road junction). Off-peak, Victoria Island is 25–30 minutes and Lekki Phase 1 about 15 minutes; in the morning peak the same trip can take over an hour, and evening traffic heading east backs up from the roundabout. Residents use Freedom Way and the Admiralty Way corridor as alternatives once they reach Phase 1.
Public transport means danfo buses and LAGBUS services along the expressway, with stops at Chevron bus stop and the toll gate. Keke tricycles run along Chevron Drive and Orchid Road to the estate gates. Ride-hailing (Bolt, Uber, inDrive) is widely available, and a ferry jetty at the Lekki Phase 1 end offers a water route to Falomo for those willing to drive to it.
The planned BRT extension and the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge, which would land near Lekki, are the big infrastructure hopes. Within the estates, roads are paved and speed-bumped; the problem is always the junctions with the expressway, so factor a buffer into any commute.
08
Schools
Chevron is well served for schools, one of the main reasons families choose it. On and around Chevron Drive are Blossom Early Years, a Montessori nursery; Artville School; New Hall International School; The Pier School; Glowfield International School and Starfield Montessori School. Meadow Hall College and Meadow Hall School are a short drive west in Ikate, and Greensprings School's Lekki campus and Lekki British International School are both within 10–15 minutes.
Other strong options in the immediate neighbourhood include Chrisland School (VGC campus) and Corona School Lekki to the east, and Caleb British International School in Ikota. Faith-based primary schools and several daycare centres operate inside the larger estates. Pan-Atlantic University and the Lagos Business School are about 20 minutes further along the expressway for tertiary study. School-run traffic on Chevron Drive between 7am and 8am is noticeable, so proximity to the chosen school is worth paying for.
09
Healthcare
Southern Shore Hospital on Chevron Drive and LouisMed Hospital are the closest full-service private hospitals, and Chevron's own clinic serves company staff. Lifecrest Hospital and Etta-Atlantic Memorial Hospital are minutes away in Ikota, while Perez Medcare and Upsilon Care in Osapa London cover the western side. For tertiary and specialist care, Lagoon Hospital, Reddington and Euracare in Victoria Island are 30–45 minutes away depending on traffic.
Pharmacies are plentiful: HealthPlus, Medplus and Nett Pharmacy all have branches along the expressway frontage, and several estates host dental clinics, physiotherapists and diagnostic laboratories. A primary health centre at Ologolo provides public services.
10
Leisure & Shopping
The Lekki Conservation Centre is Chevron's signature green space: 78 hectares of wetland with a 401 m canopy walkway, nature trails and picnic areas, literally at the end of the street. Grocery shopping is handled by Prince Ebeano Supermarket on the expressway, Evron Food Store and Atlantic Mall, with boutiques such as House of Nadina, Kaynoconcept and Kelikume in nearby plazas. Circle Mall (Shoprite, Filmhouse cinema) in Osapa London is ten minutes west and the Ikota Shopping Complex ten minutes east.
For families, Fun Factory amusement park, Grand Cinemas and Arcade and Grand Bowling provide indoor entertainment, and the Iwalewa Art Gallery adds a cultural note. Alpha Beach is reached via Igbo Efon, and Landmark and Elegushi beaches are about 20 minutes away. Gyms, tennis courts and swimming pools exist inside Chevy View, Northern Foreshore and several of the newer estates, and Lekki Conservation Centre's paths double as an early-morning running route.
11
Dining
Chevron's restaurant scene is more neighbourhood than destination, which many residents prefer. Mega Chicken, Spice Bowl Restaurant and The Coffee Lounge are local stalwarts on and around Chevron Drive, and Panarottis and Maches Foodiez are popular for family meals and takeaway. Bheerhugz Café serves brunches and casual dinners. Along the expressway frontage you will find the standard fast-food brands plus a steady supply of shawarma and grill stands.
For Nigerian cooking there are several well-rated bukas behind the plazas on Orchid Road and around the Chevron bus stop, and the ubiquitous evening suya spot at the roundabout. Higher-end dining is a short drive to Phase 1 or Osapa; most residents head there for special occasions and keep Chevron for weeknight convenience.
12
Nightlife
Chevron is a sleep-by-eleven kind of place, but it has a handful of genuine venues. GILT Rooftop is the best-known lounge, with expressway views and weekend DJs; Sugarland Lounge and Bar and Bheerhugz Café keep the casual crowd busy. Orchid Road has sprouted several bars attached to new apartment blocks, catering largely to short-let guests.
Residents looking for a bigger night out head west to the Admiralty Way lounges in Phase 1 or the beach clubs at Landmark and Elegushi, all within 20–30 minutes. Inside the estates noise rules are enforced, which is exactly why families move here.
13
Places of Interest
The Lekki Conservation Centre, run by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation since 1990, is the main landmark and a weekend draw from across Lagos. The Chevron Nigeria headquarters and its roundabout remain the navigational anchor of the whole area. The Lekki 2 toll plaza on Orchid Road is a piece of recent Lagos history from the 2020 protests.
Worship centres include several large churches along Chevron Drive and Orchid Road, among them RCCG and Winners' Chapel parishes, and the Chevron Drive central mosque. Zasarii Di Lusso Hotels and a growing number of boutique hotels along the expressway serve visitors, and the Iwalewa Art Gallery hosts exhibitions by emerging Nigerian artists.
14
Security
Every major estate in Chevron is gated with 24-hour guards, visitor registration and CCTV, and Chevy View, Northern Foreshore and Bera are known for well-funded security committees. The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps patrols the area and the police division at Ilasan covers Chevron, with the Rapid Response Squad active on the expressway.
Concerns worth noting honestly: the expressway frontage and Orchid Road see occasional phone snatching and car break-ins, and traffic jams at the roundabout have been used by opportunistic thieves. Flood-related road closures occasionally affect access. Inside the estates, incidents are rare.

FAQs
Is Chevron Lekki a good place to live?
Yes, particularly for families. It has mature gated estates, strong schools, supermarkets and the Conservation Centre close by, and it is materially cheaper than Lekki Phase 1. The main drawback is peak-hour traffic at the expressway junctions.
How much is rent in Chevron Lekki?
Typical asking rents are ₦5M–₦10M a year for a two- or three-bedroom flat, ₦10M–₦14M for a four-bedroom terrace or semi-detached duplex and ₦25M–₦30M for a five-bedroom detached house in the best estates.
How much does a house cost in Chevron Lekki?
Four-bedroom semi-detached houses list from around ₦200M to ₦320M, and five-bedroom fully detached houses from about ₦380M up to ₦850M for lakefront homes in Northern Foreshore or Carlton Gate.
Which estates are in Chevron Lekki?
Chevy View, Northern Foreshore, Bera, Carlton Gate, Hampton Lake, Tulip Haven and Bourdillon Court are on Chevron Drive; Eleganza Gardens, Empire Homes, Lekki Gardens and Lekki Paradise are on the Orchid Road side.
Does Chevron Lekki flood?
Chevron Drive estates with proper canals such as Chevy View and Bera cope reasonably well, but some reclaimed lakeside plots and parts of Orchid Road experience surface flooding in heavy rain. Inspect in the rainy season and ask the residents' association.
How far is Chevron from Victoria Island?
About 15 km. Off-peak it is a 25–30 minute drive; at rush hour allow 60–90 minutes.
Is Chevron good for short-let investment?
It works, especially on Orchid Road, but nightly rates are lower than in Lekki Phase 1 or Ikate. Family long lets in the established estates are the more dependable play here.
